Officer.
Role Description: COST CONTROLLER SAG- 16
Reports To: Manager, Accounting & Reporting
Relationships: Drilling, Engineering and Facility
Managers, Benin Project Team, Project Purchasing
Officer, Finance Team,
Geographical Location: Lagos State
Cost Centre: SAPETRO Benin.
Key Roles
The Position of Cost Controller for the
Benin Field Development will be embedded in
the E&P Project Team for Benin, with day
to day interactions with the Drilling and
Engineering Managers.
Key to delivering on this position will be the
ability to leverage requisite skills to design
and maintain analytical spreadsheets and
reports, from data obtained within internal
and external relationships.
As a critical link between E&P and Finance,
the position will support field development
activities by providing financial and analytical
expertise to the Project Team, while
delivering timely project financial reports to
the Finance Team.
Accountabilities
Serve as first line internal control
compliance liaison officer.
Provide support to individual Project
Engineer/Project Manager in establishing and
maintaining up to date AFE and related
documents, Generate and maintain
departmental, project and contact based cost
reports, as required by the Engineering
Manager or individual Project Engineer.
Monitor and report cost against progress
and monitor and report expenditure and
commitments against project budget.
Review and audit contractors’ cost
management procedures
Audit contractors’ invoices and backup
material
Prepare the Requisitions for the project
(Drilling activity), Submit the Requisitions
for the internal approvals.
Submit the Approved Requisitions to
Procurement
Oversee project related accounting
procedures and database management.
Carry out random audit of work flow to
ensure that all project accounting transactions
are appropriately authorized.
Prepare monthly journal entries.
Prepare reports to feed financial statements
(variance analysis, etc).
Prepare general ledger reconciliations.
Prepare the Accruals Report for the Drilling
Activity and related analytics.
Participate in monthly closing process.
Work on special projects, if requested.
Assist with yearly audit preparation, Check
and assign the Materials & Equipment
Accounts Codes and Class of Cost.
Prepare the weekly warehouse report for
materials & Equipment,
Person Profile
Minimum of a 2nd Class Honours
University degree in Accounting, Engineering,
Social Sciences or other Sciences.
Approximately 3 to 5 years experience in a
similar position, within the Upstream Oil and
Gas Industry.
Must have at least 2 years experience in
Auditing, within the Upstream Oil and Gas
Industry.
Good knowledge of SAP and intermediate
spreadsheet expertise are a must.
Familiarity with IFRS environment would
be an advantage.
Good analytical and problem solving skills.
Good interpersonal and communication
(verbal & written) skills.
Good organizational skills, Ability to work
with minimal supervision.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Good team spirit.
Oral and written French would be an
advantage.
Conversant with the use of Microsoft Office
Tools.
Role Description: ENVIRONMENTAL/SAFETY
OFFICER Limited - SAG 17
Reports To: HSSE Coordinator
Key Roles
The candidate shall be responsible for all
environmental regulatory compliance,
implementation and maintenance of the
environmental management system policy
and the occupational health and safety
activities of the company.
Accountabilities
Develop, implement and maintain the
environmental management system policy and
programs of the company.
Provide guidance and advice across the
organization.
Fair understanding of global oil and gas
environmental reporting requirements,
standards, regulation, Manage regulators,
Prepare, review, and update environmental
investigation and recommendation reports.
Develop proposed project objectives and
targets and report on progress in attaining 6
them.
Provide safety input into proposals – to
include scope of work schedules and man-hour
estimates.
Carry Out accident investigation and
reporting.
Implement and maintain first aid and
emergency response procedures.
Collate, analyse and document operations
safety statistics.
Implement any other duties assigned by the
HSSE Coordinator/Supervisor.
Person Profile
Minimum of a 2nd Class Honours
University degree in any Engineering or
Science discipline.
Approximately 5 to 10 years field
experience within the Upstream Oil & Gas
industry.
Must have a National Board for
Occupational Safety and Health –
International General Certificate.
Must have a Nigerian Institute of Safety
Professionals Level 3 Certificate.
Conversant with Occupational Health and
Safety standards.
Good organisational skills and safety
consciousness.
Good understanding of the basic principles
of reliability and availability assessments.
Good interpersonal and communication
(verbal & written) skills.
Good understanding of operation/office
security strategies.
Good waste management, oil spill, gas
flaring and produced water analysis skills.
Must be conversant with environmental
impact assessment, post impact assessment,
baseline studies, environmental evaluation
studies/report and audits.
Working knowledge of environment
management systems in the E & P industry
Good knowledge of environmental
regulations.
Good field experience in environmental
studies.
Good knowledge of other Engineering
disciplines.
Good knowledge of technical safety.
Ability to speak French would be an
advantage.
Good analytical and problem solving skills.

Role Description: SAFETY/SECURITY
OFFICER SAO 18
Reports To: HSSE Coordinator
Key Roles
The candidate shall be responsible for the
Implementation and maintenance of
occupational health and safety standards
including safety monitoring and inspection of
the company’s operations.
He will also handle the auditing and safety
statistics analysis collation activities of the
company.
Accountabilities
Carry out field safety monitoring,
inspection and audit.
Handle accident investigation and
reporting.
Carry out field training and safety
inductions.
Implement and maintain first aid and
emergency response procedures.
Carry out a safety inspection of the
workplace, identifying hazards, recommending
control measures and preparing a
management report.
Organize operations and office security.
Implementation and maintenance of
occupational health and safety standards.
Collate, analyze and document safety
statistics.
Provide safety input into proposals – to
include scope of work, schedules and man-
hour estimates.
Handle job safety analysis and permit to
work administration.
Handle any other duties assigned by the
HSSE Coordinator/Supervisor.
Person Profile
Minimum of a 2nd Class Honours
University degree in any Engineering
discipline or Sciences.
Approximately 5 to 10 years field
experience within the Upstream Oil & Gas
industry.
Must have a National Board for
Occupational Safety and Health –
International General Certificate.
Must have a Nigerian Institute of Safety
Professionals Level 3 Certificate.
Well organized and safety conscious.
Working knowledge of safety studies.
Good knowledge of active and passive fire
protection engineering, fire protection
philosophies, systems design and
specifications.
Good understanding of the basic principles
of reliability and availability assessments.
Good understanding of operation/office
security strategies.
Good interpersonal and communication
(verbal & written) skills.
Good team spirit.
Ability to work independently on smaller
scale consultancy studies.
Good understanding of the occupational
health and management system.
Familiarity with hazard identification
studies, hazard and operability studies
including safety integrity level workshops is
highly desirable.
Good experience with consequence
modeling and consequence modeling software.
Good analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to speak French would be an
advantage.
