HIS EXCELLENCY SIR,
MENACE OF ELECTORAL VIOLENCE
Accept the plea of an illustrious son of Kogi state and a bona fide
member of the PDP for an action on the devastating violence that
had been the hallmark of election in Kogi state before your
ascendancy as governor of Kogi state.
Violence of thugs was not unknown in Kogi state before you became
governor and such violence was caused by politicians of our party,
the PDP, who were responsible for the violence of many years of
your predecessor's government. Peace beget peace. Your peaceful
nature made the politics of Kogi peaceful.
Their violence led to many loss of lives and deprivation of livelihood
as properties of innocent Nigerians were burnt at the push of a whim.
Families lost their breadwinners to the activities of these thugs whom
your government had denounced and ostracised until the destruction
in Anyigba on the 17th and 18th of January, 2015, led the public to
conclude that the violent days are back.
His Excellency, every violence that is done against opposition
political parties has a ripple effect as it is capable of leading the
public to conclude that you are aware and behind such incivility.
Whereas you are a man of peace that would never support violence
not matter the benefit accruable from it.
His Excellency is knowledgeable enough to win through persuasion
and prudent exploitation of resources.
However, the dastard violence of this thugs leads to a different
conclusion in the mind of the public which is not healthy for the
impeccable reputation of our dear governor with a governorship
election in the offing later this year.
NEED I REMIND OUR PARTY MEMBERS THAT VIOLENCE DOES NOT
WIN ELECTION ANYMORE. CAMPAIGN AND PERSUASION WIN.
His Excellency, it must be noted that your name is rubbed in the mud
whenever PDP MEMBERS cause mayhem and maim the opposition
as the AGGRESSOR.
POLITICIANS in our party, PDP, who are behind this violence are
either pursuing personal interests or vendetta or are out to damage
the peaceable reputation of the leader of our party.
His Excellency is hereby urged to take proactive measure as he is
wont to do in most cases to end a reversion to the despicable days
of electoral violence in Dekina local government- your local
government of origin....
